The new "face of Rotorua" is proving a natural in front of the television cameras.

Te Rina West has spent the past three days filming for the Famously Rotorua TV commercials after being selected as the star.

The John Paul College student has taken in a sunrise on Lake Rotorua, spent time in the Redwoods Forest, checked out some local cafes and visited the Rotorua Museum as part of the filming schedule, which wrapped up last week.

Destination Rotorua Marketing consumer marketing manager Brenna Townshend managed the Famously Rotorua campaign. She said she was really proud of Te Rina's performance.

"Te Rina is a natural talent in front of the camera, she has delivered her lines perfectly with a lot of warmth and her actions and demeanour are all captivating for the story this commercial is telling," she said.

"Rotorua will feel really proud of Te Rina when this goes to air as she is a fantastic local ambassador who loves this region - this really shows in the filming."

Te Rina said she was nervous before starting, but had now got into the flow of acting.

The commercials are integral to the Famously Rotorua campaign and Te Rina plays an important part in educating Kiwis about Rotorua's legacy, while also revealing fresh and unusual experiences the region has to offer.
