The second day of the Te Arawa kapa haka regional competition is underway.

Ngati Rangiwewehi pakeke group were the first to perform on stage in front of a sellout Rotorua Energy Events Centre this morning.

The two day event will conclude tonight with six groups chosen to perform at the national competition in Christchurch next year.

The crowd is being entertained between groups by former television host Tamati Coffey and Kiri Danielle.

Internet mogul and founder of the Internet Party, Kim Dotcom was expected to attend this afternoon along with Mana Party president Annette Sykes but has since cancelled stating "personal family issues."
