Rain only added to the energy as more than 12,000 fans packed into Taupo Amphitheatre to watch rockers 10cc, Starship and Lynyrd Skynyrd perform.
It's the first time in three years the concert has had to contend with wet weather but Taupo Summer Concert Ltd director Hayden Dickason said itdidn't pose problems to organisers who had wet-weather contingency plans in place.
He said crowd feedback from the concert had been "outstanding". All three acts were popular and put on great performances, he said.
"We find most have a personal preference [of artist] but then come along and find one or two surprise them. A lot of the feedback has been all three were outstanding."
He said about 75 per cent of those attending came from out of the Taupo region.
The concert had grown to be regarded as one of Taupo's iconic events, he added.
Promoter Amanda Calvert from Greenstone Entertainment said the show was "just incredible" from start to finish.
"The bands have been enjoying the laid-back vibe of New Zealand and have loved meeting their Kiwi fans for the first time. 10cc have been to New Zealand before so it was like a bit of a homecoming for them but in big and beautiful outdoor venues this time."
