Tēnā koutou katoa. A key priority of New Zealand Police is to deliver the services New Zealanders expect and deserve. Part of this is understanding what the public want from police so we can provide that service.

The New Zealand Police have teamed up with the Taupō District Council and Oranga Tamariki to come out and talk with our communities and listen to what you want to tell us. We all have a priority focus on prevention through partnerships, working with others to achieve better outcomes for our communities so we're keen to know what works well, what could work better and any potential solutions.

We know that the community of Tūrangi will have different issues from those in Richmond Heights to those in Acacia Bay.

We are coming to meet with you in your neighbourhood and we are kicking a series of meetings off this long weekend on Labour Day Monday in Omori/Kuratau and Mangakino/Whakamaru.

You may ask why we are doing this on Labour Day. We want to engage with these communities, and we know that there are many holiday homes in the area that will be occupied by people coming to our holiday destination for the weekend.

Please keep an eye out on your local community pages, the Taupō District Council Facebook and Police Facebook pages for dates and times. If you know people who don't do social media then let them know by the good old word of mouth.

Stay safe, Fane Troy
