Taupō and Tūrangi residents have told us their thumbs ups and thumbs downs for the week.

Taupō and Tūrangi residents have told us their thumbs ups and thumbs downs for the week.

Thumbs up

  • To Vetplus Taupō, to whom I signed over a badly injured wild bird this week. Unfortunately, they were unable to save it due to a nasty wing injury, but I am very grateful they tried and showed so much empathy towards a wounded bird.
  • To the council employee who recently helped me on a project and used all his intelligence. Great job!
  • To DB computers for their ongoing support to the Taupō RSA.
  • To the staff at Pak’nSave, who are doing a great job even with the shop so busy at the moment. They always seem to be smiling and friendly!

Thumbs down

  • Taupō is pricing itself out of being the “Events Capital”. Venue hire is becoming so costly that events have to downsize or move away to another town to achieve affordable costs. We have been involved with big groups of over 40 people, who have been coming here for years. They have wanted to come here again but we have suggested looking elsewhere.
