Taneatua fire victim named

The scene of the fatal fire in Taneatua

Police have released the name of the woman who died in a house fire in Taneatua yesterday morning.

She was Rebecca Ripeka Allerby, 79, the sole occupant of the house.

As a result of the combined fire and police investigation into the fire, it has been established there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

Police said inquiries will continue in respect of some electrical items recovered from
the scene.

The matter has now been referred to the coroner.
