Reaching 50 is a milestone to celebrate, and Lake View Golf & Country Club is no exception.

Tomorrow the club, in Tarukenga on State Highway 5, is hosting an open afternoon for its 50th anniversary, and secretary Sue Falconer encourages all who are involved, or have been in the club, in any way, shape or form to head along.

"There will be an afternoon tea, and hopefully people can catch up and see people they haven't seen for years."

There will also be a tour of the course depending on the weather, where people would be able to see how much it has changed over the years, Mrs Falconer said.

"We are definitely amazed [at the change] and it's nice to see where we have come from."

Mrs Falconer said old newspaper clippings, dating back to 1967, would be on display showing several moments in Lake View's history, such as the first clubhouse.

Vice-president Alan Deverson hoped past members and friends of the club would come along and meet with their friends.

On Sunday the club was hosting an open meet tournament between 7.30am and 11.30am which anyone was welcome to enter, Mrs Falconer said.

The cost is $25 for non-members and $20 for Lake View members.

"People will need to call the club and book a tee time if they wish to play."
