Western Heights High School art students have been putting the finishing touches to a year's worth of work as they prepare to put it on display at the school's annual exhibition.
Locals will be able to see the students' art boards in the school hall next Friday from 3pm to7pm.
Teacher Manu Scott said some outstanding artwork would be on display.
"There is some amazing work to be seen, in a range of mediums and at level two, a range of themes.
"The Year 11 students worked to the theme of Nga Atua Maori/Superheroes, drawing inspiration from a number of New Zealand artists such as Kereama Taepa, Sandy Adsett, Para Matchitt and Reweti Arapere."

Mr Scott said while the Year 11 students had to work within creative restrictions, Year 12 students were given more creative control.
"By allowing the older students to pick their own themes, the end results differ hugely and show a real insight into the students' talents."
Year 11 students Cameron Astwood, 15, and Whetu Grooby, 15, said the exhibition was a culmination of all their hard work throughout the year.
"It's cool to have it exhibited but also a little daunting because I worry people will be judging it," Whetu said.
"While some of the art styles didn't give us much room to express ourselves, we did get to choose our own colour schemes which was our way of putting a bit of individuality and originality on our work."
Cameron said the process had been "a long one but it has been all right with some parts of it proving a challenge".
The pair agreed it was good to have finished products and they would either like to keep their work or donate it to the school.
