Stretch out and enjoy the Hamurana Playcentre fair by the lake

Grab your picnic blankets and head to the edge of the lake this Sunday.

The Hamurana Playcentre is hosting its 10th annual Spring Fair and once again is looking forward to a bumper load of people attending.

Proceeds from the fair go towards the playcentre and "every bit of money you spend, whether it is just a raffle ticket, makes a big difference", said fair co-ordinator Joanne Tombleson.

She said that as the fair had grown, the focus had become more about providing a family focused event rather than just a fundraiser.

"It is not just about our centre anymore. It has become a well-known community event that people love to come to. It brings in people from all over Rotorua," she said.

The fair is on the edge of Lake Rotorua, opposite the golf course and people have plenty of room to stretch out if they want to make a day of it.

This year there are more than 30 stalls including face painting, icecream, coffee, arts, crafts, woodwork, food and activities such as children's games, golf challenge, pony rides, "Sparky" the ride-on fire engine, a jumble sale and the "world famous in Hamurana" Grand Auction.

The business community has rallied to support the playcentre by donating accommodation, pamper, food, tourist and adventure packages to the auction.
