Rotorua business owners will have the chance to network and improve their businesses at a free Raising the Bar workshop with business strategic manager Wayne Dellow.

Raising the Bar spokesman Heinz Fett said the workshop on Wednesday would be useful for business owners and managers.

"We're just providing a platform for people to talk about how to improve their business.

"It gives people an opportunity to hear him [Mr Dellow] at no cost and get an idea of what's available to them if they wanted.

"You get a lot of people who come there to network with other people and get to talk to other people. Most businesses are going through exactly the same problem. We are giving them an opportunity to talk to to each other."

Mr Dellow said the workshop would focus on providing good service across any industry.

"I guess the biggest thing for me is going to be raising the bar of service in any business, and it's going to be particularly aimed at business owners and/or managers with staff, getting the best out of the staff, being effective, productive and increasing the bottom line.

"It doesn't matter whether people have been in the business for a long period of time, the biggest thing for me is people having the right attitude, understanding the behaviours of staff and customers so you can relate to them.

"It doesn't matter whether it's retail, building, art, accountancy, or a lawyer, everyone is getting value but it does come back to having the right mindset."

Mr Dellow said everyone would walk away having learnt something new.

"The coolest thing for me is if people come along and take away something.

"The topics I will touch on are having a vision, understanding and living the core values, having a purpose for being in business.

"It's also around growth of individuals, growth of business owners, growth of their staff.

"Everybody that comes will get something of value out of it."

The hour-long workshop begins at 5.30pm at the Rotorua Club at the Rotorua Racecourse.
