Protecting families' future when a loved one has cancer will be discussed in Rotorua.
Locals will be sharing stories of facing cancer and the impact it has had on family members in the Future Proofing Your World event tomorrow night at Rydges Rotorua Hotel.
It will be a relaxed evening of sharing experiences and knowledge of the disease so the community can learn how to prepare themselves for the future, if they too become sick or are living with sickness, said one of the organisers.
It has been organised by local businesswomen Lietta Erni and Trish Stone to provide information for business owners and families so they can be prepared for the unwanted and the unexpected.
Guest speakers include Central North Island director for BNI (Business Network International) and the evening's MC, Mike Tennent, who will bring a partner's perspective to the evening.
He will talk about his partner's breast cancer and how the diagnosis changed their lives, and how they dealt with the day-to-day outcome of having no health insurance.
Other business professionals who will offer advice included Stacey Stefadouros from NZ Home Loans, hospice representatives about the service they provide and Sue Winters from the Rotorua Breast Cancer Trust. Toni Cox of Taslo Engineering will share her breast-cancer journey and the outcome.
-The event is on from 5.30pm and is free. To RSVP, contact office@in2ucoaching.com or phone (07) 393 3131.
