State Highway 5 near Te Pōhue closed earlier this afternoon after a stock truck rolled, injuring one person. Image / Supplied

State Highway 5 in Hawke’s Bay near Te Pōhue has partially reopened after a stock truck rolled, leaving one person with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to the scene between Old Taupō Coach Rd and Palmer Rd at 2.15pm.

A police spokesperson said one person was reported to have serious injuries.

There were also injured stock at the scene.

NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) Waka Kotahi said a tow truck had been on site and the southbound lane heading towards Napier has now reopened.

“The northbound lane remains closed for now.

“NZTA Waka Kotahi is still advising people to delay their travel or expect significant delays.”

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson earlier said four fire trucks were at the scene, and they were asked to contact a vet for cattle at the site.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said at 2.59pm they were en route with one helicopter and an ambulance.
