State Highway 1 detour route near Tokoroa blocked by truck crash

A truck crash has blocked Old Taupo Rd, a State Highway 1 detour route near Tokoroa, South Waikato.

Meanwhile, another truck has reported losing its load in the same area.

A police spokesperson said the truck would take some time to remove.

The crash happened this morning on Old Taupo Rd between Wiltsdown Rd and Matanuku Rd.

The police spokesperson said a second truck has reported losing its load on Wiltsdown Rd.

“Old Taupo Rd and Wiltsdown Rd are currently being used as diversions from SH1, so the blockages will impact motorists travelling on SH1,” the spokesperson said.

A social media alert issued by NZ Transport Agency said the affected section of Old Taupo Rd was “currently unavailable” as a detour for motorists.

“Delay your journey or allow extra time for alternative diversions,” the alert said.
