Grant l'Ami, Lorraine Phipps and Mike Phipps won the North Island Championship Triples at the Rotorua Sportsdrome yesterday.

The team from Tauranga's South City Club added to their already impressive indoor bowls record by winning their first ever North Island championship title in Rotorua.

Grant l'Ami, Mike Phipps and Lorraine Phipps won the North Island Championship Triples at the Rotorua Sportsdrome yesterday.

In an exciting final over 10 ends the team defeated Roger Andrew, Jason Parker and David Lynn from the St Pats Club in Counties after a deciding end was required to award the title.

The score was 8-8 after 10 ends and on the extra end the position of the head changed with each bowl.

L'Ami held shot after his last bowl and Andrew attempted to draw the shot to win the match but his bowl was just a little heavy, with l'Ami winning 9-8.

Sandra combined with Jeff Davie and Dennis Hopson and Phil with Theunis Miedema and Lesley Monk.

The Badgemakers Trophy, which is awarded to the player of the tournament, was won jointly by Daniel French and Keri Te Tamaki from the Green Island Club in Otago.
