Auckland rockers Valedictions are set to release their debut album Pieces.

It's been two years since their debut EP and the band say the album is a departure from that release with a pared back sound, reflecting the group's raw energy.

Current single and title track Pieces is built on a strong guitar riff and an overall sound that recalls Stone Temple Pilots.

The trio will perform at Auckland's Wine Cellar to celebrate the release on July 7.

Wellington-based Scottish Kiwi folk musician Frank Burkitt is headed back to the UK for a series of shows with BBC Folk Musician of the Year nominee Dan Walsh.

The pair will perform in St Boswells, Edinburgh, Newcastle and The Black Isle, Inverness from the end of July and into August.

Before then the Frank Burkitt Band has gigs lined up in Upper Hutt, Hastings, Palmerston North and New Plymouth.

Concerts in Levin, Wellington, Napier, Auckland and Tauranga will follow from late September onwards.

It comes with the announcement of a mini tour taking in Auckland, Wellington and Napier.
