Snowboarding: Defiant Trident defend schools crown

The Trident High School snowboarding team have defended their crown at the North Island Secondary Schools Snowboard Competition.

The snowboarding competition was held at Mt Ruapehu this week, on the Turoa skifield.

Trident High School defended their crown in the boys team category, finishing ahead of Ruapehu College and Westlake Boys' High School.

It is the third year in a row that Trident have won the top award.

Trident High student Nic Crawford led the way for the school. He was named as a joint winner of the top overall boy's award, with Johnny Double from Ruapehu College.

A good crowd watched the competition this week at Turoa.

Results:

*Top Overall Boy (three events): 1st Johnny Double (Ruapehu College), Nic Crawford (Trident High).
*Top Overall Girl: 1st Georgia Ferris (Correspondence School).
*Combined Boys Team: 1st Trident High, 2nd Ruapehu College, 3rd Westlake Boys' High.
*Combined Girls Team: 1st Mt Albert Grammar, 2nd Correspondence School, 3rd St Mary's School Ponsonby.
