Sloan Cox and his team are looking forward to their favourite event of the New Zealand Rally Championship starting tomorrow. As the Taslo Engineering Mitsubishi Evo X proved its reliability and ran smoothly during the opening round Rally Otago, the team have made minimal changes to the car's setup ahead of thisweekend's International Rally of Whangarei.
The one minor mechanical issue has been rectified through stripping and rebuilding the driveline and the team are confident this problem will not present again.
Rally Whangarei is an event the Cox Motorsport team have come close to conquering and with the stages similar to last year's event, a lot of time has been spent on preparation by reviewing previous footage so they can be best prepared to obtain their goals.
"Whangarei is my favourite event of the season. We have always shown good speed up there and our goal this year is to try and finally achieve that podium finish," said Cox.
The action begins at 5pm tomorrow. Over the weekend the team will cover 263km over 16 stages.
