Bikers take to the trails at Skyline Rotorua's Mountain Bike Gravity Park. The park is now offering cheaper weekday deals.

Bikers take to the trails at Skyline Rotorua's Mountain Bike Gravity Park. The park is now offering cheaper weekday deals.

Skyline Rotorua's Mountain Bike Gravity Park has only been open for two months, but it's already seen hundreds of bikers take to the trails from around New Zealand and the globe.

The world's first year-round, gondola accessed mountain bike park is a huge drawcard for locals and tourists on weekends and now new off-peak passes allow riders to enjoy the park from Monday to Friday, and save hundreds of dollars on a regular season pass.

Skyline Rotorua general manager Bruce Thomasen said the Monday to Friday option was an ideal way to get the most out of the longer daylight hours - and to avoid the queues.

"We're really excited to launch these new off-peak passes which we know will appeal to locals who want to get in some riding after school or work.

"Feedback on the trails has been outstanding so far and we've even heard of out-of-towners changing their holiday plans to come and visit Rotorua to ride the new trails."

The off-peak pass starts at $249 for a three-month adult pass, $250 cheaper than a regular three-month pass which allows riding seven days a week.

The 12-month off-peak pass is $499 compared with the full-year $899 pass. Six-month passes, along with student and child rates are also available.

The trails include Simple Jack (Grade 2), Daywalker (Grade 3), Hipster (Grade 4), Sprint Warrior, Moss Piglet and Ten Fifty One (Grade 5), with more track developments to come with the completion of race lines for the Crankworx Rotorua festival in March 2015.
