The hunt continues for six puppies, which were stolen three weeks from the Turangi SPCA.

Thieves breached the premises fence and barbed wire to take the puppies which were held in two separate kennel areas in the early hours of November 17. And there has not been a word about their whereabouts since.

"They only left behind a few six-week old puppies and a larger dog that was probably too heavy to lift over the fence," SPCA manager Stacy Lewis told Fairfax.

The missing dogs included three 10-week-old American bull terriers, an 8-week-old huntaway, an 8-week-old fox terrier/shepherd cross and Nico, a 12-week-old Mastiff cross.

Most of the puppies were about to be moved to the pet store Animates, where they could find loving new owners.

A Facebook group has been organised to help efforts to find the puppies as many are concerned for their safety.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the dogs or what has happened to them is encouraged to contact SPCA Turangi on 027 569 8287 or on Facebook. Or call the police.
