Rotorua Daily Post reporter Shauni James is taking part in this year's Harcourts Dancing with the Stars. She shares her thoughts in the build-up to the August 5 event.

The pressure is on to perfect our routines, with mere days left until showtime.

It is crazy how quickly the time has gone, and it definitely brings a bunch of nerves with it.

It will be a rush to the finish line for Tairoa and I, as I have just been overseas and Tairoa has also had other commitments.

But I am sure we will pick it up again fine for the last few practices, and we are really looking forward to performing for you all and helping to raise money for Hospice!

I recently had my first practice in my shoes with heels.

I am happy to say it went a lot better than I expected, and I did not fall over or trip once (though there might have been a slight slide here and there).

One of my favourite parts has been seeing everyone else's dances progressing - and I can tell you - everyone is looking great.

Thank you so much to Shelley Martin, Troy Smith and Glen Law for all their help in getting us to where we are as dancers today.
