Shared path work begins on Long Mile Rd

Concrete was put down today at the start of the shared path that will extend down Long Mile Rd.

Work began at the Tarawera Rd entrance and will see the 3m wide shared path eventually extend all the way to Nursery Rd.

Rotorua Lakes Council said motorists should remember to drive safely around the worksite and keep an eye out for pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists sharing the road.

This work is part of the Whakarewarewa Forest development which will include improved facilities in the Tokorangi Forest (Redwoods) and a new forest hub off Tarawera Rd.

An investment of $14.5 million to enhance the forest amenity is being used with funds coming from the council and the Provincial Growth Fund.

It is expected to take three years.
