Severe weather watch for the region

A severe weather watch is in place for the Bay of Plenty and Taupo.

Rain with possible heavy falls is expected today and into tomorrow.

In a statement Metservice said a deepening trough just west of Northland was expected to move slowly south bringing localised heavy falls to much of the North Island.

The forecast for Rotorua and Taupo today is rain with heavy falls tomorrow.
