Science hits the stage with a bang

Science is set to come to life in Rotorua next month - when Nanogirl (aka Dr Michelle Dickinson) brings her Little Bang, Big Bang - a Live Science Spectacular to Rotorua.

There will be two shows at the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre, at 5pm and 7pm, on December 2.

The show will include explosions, liquid nitrogen ice-cream, hovercraft and smoke cannons.

Nanogirl aims to explain the science behind each experiment in a way that is fun and easy to understand.

She is a popular researcher, teacher and speaker with a love of science and engineering and a background in biomedical and materials engineering.

Her aim is to change the perception that science is hard or confusing.

It is being presented by Spark NZ and the University of Auckland Faculty of Engineering.

Each idea starts with a small experiment to explain it, then Nanogirl takes the same principle and turns it up to "big bang scale".
