Schoolboy Rugby: Rotorua's shot at final slim

Rotorua Boys' High School are still an outside chance of making the Super Eight final despite losing their latest match to Napier Boys' High School.

Rotorua Boys' travelled to Hawke's Bay on Saturday to play Napier Boys', losing the game 31-16.

Rotorua Boys' first XV coach Bruce Buckton said it was a frustrating game.

"We had plenty of opportunities but just needed better decisions from our line-breaks," he said.

"Just that one extra pass would have set us up for more points, so that was a bit frustrating. And that has not been like our game this season, we have been pretty good with our offloading."

He said on a positive note they had a lot of ball and the players knew what went wrong.

"The boys had a talk after the game and realised what went wrong, and that is a positive - to realise what's going wrong."

He said the team had been good at learning from each game this season.

The Super Eight tournament will take a two-week break before the next round on July 26. Rotorua Boys' will play Palmerston North Boys' High School, who have been in good form this season.

If Rotorua win their final two games they still have a chance of making the final, which will be televised on Sky Sports.
