Local country music fans will get a "rare treat" when New Zealand artists Delaney Davidson and Marlon Williams perform in Rotorua tonight.

The award winning artists will perform at the Netherlands Society Hall as part of their nationwide Sad But True tour.

Rotorua will be the first North Island stop for the duo, whose album Sad but True: The Secret History of Country Music Songwriting Volume 1 received the RIANZ Best Country Album award while their single Bloodletter won the APRA Best Country Song of 2013.

Event organiser Karin Vincent said both Davidson and Williams tour internationally so their concert was a rare opportunity to see them perform on home soil. "It's going to be a great, enjoyable show, something that's heart warming and gets the feet tapping."

"It's also a chance for people to hear some great original songs as well as some familiar country favourites." She expected the show to be popular and said tickets had been selling fast. "I think people realise that this a is pretty big country act that will be performing here. We want to get as many people as possible to come along and listen and enjoy the show."
