The Te Kani Shield is on the line in round four of the Toi Ohomai Secondary Schools Competition this weekend.

The Te Kani Shield is on the line in round four of the Toi Ohomai Secondary Schools Competition this weekend.

The Te Kani Shield will be up for grabs when Western Heights High School host Trident High School in round four of the Toi Ohomai Secondary Schools Competition this weekend.

Trident High School posted their first win of the season against Rotorua Boys' High School Barbarians and will look to
eliminate simple mistakes and convert try-line pressure into points again this weekend. Dale Seymour played an outstanding game last week and will need to lead by example to defeat the boys from Western Heights.

Denton Grimes, in his first season as head coach, has moulded a young and inexperienced Western Heights team into a formidable unit. With a "one game at a time" approach they know they must stay in top form to hold onto the Te Kani Shield.

Rotorua Boys' High School Second XV travel to Bethlehem where Te Wharekura o Mauao will lay down a stirring challenge to the Raukura tama toa. Both teams play an expansive style of attacking rugby and should produce a potential match of the day.

Tauranga Boys' College Second XV take on Rotorua Boys' High School Barbarians in the final game of the first division.

In Division Two, Te Puke High School have qualified first and face Papamoa College for a spot in the finals. Under new head coach Jackson Ruben the Te Puke High School team has been the most consistent with performance and on-field attitude. With three Bay of Plenty pre-academy players in their squad the Te Puke High School First XV is more than ready for the step up.

Meanwhile, Aquinas College will take on Otumoetai College in the last semi-final of Division Two. With the winner of each Division Two semi-final being promoted to Division One, the season plan for both schools will rest on these games.

In the girls' Premier First XV Division, Tauranga Girls' College had a comfortable win over Te Puke High School who are improving with every game and will look to test a few teams in the second round.

The trip to Opotiki proved too big a hurdle for the kōtiro of Te Wharekura o Mauao losing to a slick and polished Opotiki College girls' team.
