The Bay of Plenty Steamers were unable to defeat Auckland in Rotorua today after leading 12-0 at the break.
A horror second half saw the home team concede 27 unanswered points, to lose 27-12 at Rotorua International Stadium.
The Steamers will be hoping Hawke's Bay beat Otago tomorrow, which wouldgive them a Ranfurly Shield challenge next weekend, and a chance to salvage their season.
The Steamers have won one game and lost five this season in the ITM Cup.
