Rugby: Mount beat Whaka in classic final

Whakarewarewa lost an epic grand final to Mount Maunganui today 26-23 at Tauranga Domain.

Plenty of Whaka supporters travelled to Tauranga to watch the Baywide final today.

Straight from kick-off it was apparent the game was going to be a classic. Whaka were trailing 23-8 early in the second half, but drew level at 23-all with 10 minutes to go.

Mount kicked a penalty towards the end and held on to win.

Meanwhile, Waikite have progressed to the Baywide Division One final after defeating Arataki 21-17 today in their semifinal. They will face Paroa next weekend who defeated Kahukura 27-20 today.
