He described Saturday's game as do or die for both sides.
"We've developed some really strong players this year and a lot of those boys were part of last year's team, so we are giving ourselves every chance. But we also know the quality of
Hamilton, and know we are going to have to be at our very best to win that game. If we don't perform, we don't expect to win. And that's how it should be at that tournament - you've got to be at your best to win it."
He said that while it was a mountain to climb, his side had been there before.
"That gives us a little bit of confidence if anything, but we are not taking anything for granted because we know a good side like Hamilton are going to be at the top of their game as well."
Simpkins said Poukohe Sorenson-Tawhara was outstanding up front in the win over Wesley College, and Kaydis Hona had some strong carries from number 8 and was effective on defence.
"Manny Crawford started at 7 for us in that game, and he took his opportunities and went really well."
The side has no injury worries heading into this weekend's game.
"There are quite a few boys in there that this could possibly be their last game, so we will be looking to them. But we aren't looking for super star performances, just for them to get into their work."
The game is at Rotorua Boys High School on Saturday, kicking off at noon.
The Top 4 teams are the winners of the Blues, Chiefs, Hurricanes and the South Island franchises. These four teams then have two semi finals with the winners advancing to the National First XV Final.
