The Light Rotorua festival is about to get more fun.

The Light Rotorua festival is about to get more fun.

Red stags are sneaking into shop windows on Tutanekai St - providing a fun Christmas hunt for the young and young at heart.

The Rudolph Red Stag Reindeer Hunt is part of the Light Rotorua campaign.

Light Rotorua committee member Matt Browning said 15 shop windows on Tutanekai St and in the CBD contained reindeer in the shape of the Red Stag.

The hunt was a community-based initiative, he said. "There are 15 clues for 15 shop windows.

"We are trying to give people a reason to be in town and make Christmas a fun time.

"We were trying to do a fun thing for all kids to do.

"They are accessible and you can see all of them from the street front," he said.

Red Stag commercial manager Paul Laing said: "We are hoping lots of kids will take up the opportunity to walk around town and look for various clues.

"It works because of Red Stag and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and all the linkages there," he said.

The Reindeer Hunt will run until December 17, with prizegiving on December 18 at the Thursday Night Market.

Entry forms with clues are available from Mediaworks, the City Focus, Rotorua Library, Rotorua Lakes Council and from www.lightrotorua.co.nz.

Completed forms can also be dropped off at those locations.
