Rotorua's Julia Edward and rowing partner Sophie MacKenzie are in the running for the Team of the Year Award at the 52nd Halberg Awards.

Edward and MacKenzie (Blenheim) won gold at the world rowing championships in August and broke the world record in the process, in the women's lightweight double scull event.

The pair are up for the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation Team Of The Year Award.

Edward received the Supreme Award at the Bay of Plenty Sports Awards in Rotorua last week.
