Rotorua's Promise Royal is committed to using her many talents at an event to help raise funds for a Kiwi children's charity.

Royal is a singer, model, the current Miss Teen Rotorua crown holder, and now a Top 20 finalist with Miss Universe NZ 2018.

The fundraising event, Evening With Promise - Part II, will be held on Saturdayin The Barn at the Agrodome.

The event is raising funds for Variety the Children's Charity and is part of Royal's pageant journey with Miss Universe, where contestants need to complete an entrepreneurial challenge.

Variety helps to support disadvantaged children in New Zealand with things such as bedding, school uniforms and clothing.

They also help out with extra-curricular opportunities and additional needs like tutoring, medical care and therapeutic care.

All funds raised from this challenge will be split, with half going to Variety and the other half going towards Royal's journey as a Miss Universe contestant.

The contestant who raises most money for their charity automatically goes into the top 10.

Royal's fundraising event is a small and intimate fashion show featuring local designer Leah Chang Temara, who will showcase three of her collections - day wear, evening wear and bridal wear.

Royal will model and entertain guests by singing. There will also be silent auctions.

The many auction items include work from local artists, family passes, win a date with Promise, a bike from Ray White, a cake from Cakealicious, a Waiora Spa voucher and more.

Royal said Variety was a great charity to support because it was helping children in New Zealand.

"I think that's pretty cool. We're not sending the money overseas."

She said she was excited for the fundraiser and was looking forward to every aspect of it.

"I think just raising money for charity will be the best part, and making sure we can get as much money as we can.

"Overall, it's for a great cause and we know it's definitely going to our Kiwi kids."

She said making the Top 20 for Miss Universe New Zealand was encouraging.

Royal said even making Top 10 would be an amazing achievement, and allowed her to still make quite an impact.
