Take a change in diet, a passion for wholefoods and the desire to share with others and you have Life is Great! - the first cookbook in a series by Rotorua businesswoman Aleisha Wyllie.

The book was launched yesterday at the Vetro food store in Rotorua with samples of foods taken from the book handed out to give people a taste of what they can expect.

It's been two years in the making and stemmed from a switch to wholefoods.

"We found our health improved dramatically," Ms Wyllie said.

"It made a huge difference and after making that change it became not just a lifestyle but a passion.

"We eat these foods every day. The book is written in a way that it's not hard for people to change.

"It's about having variety and making it easier for them to choose something that inspires them. Any change is a positive one."

Her favourite recipes are garlic crackers made from sunflower seeds and chickpeas, chocolate cheesecake and a breakfast chocolate mousse.

This is the first book in a planned series of three. The next, Life is Great for Dogs will be published at the end of the year and there will be a second Life is Great! cookbook.

There are more than 100 recipes as well as inspiring affirmations and helpful tips and resources.

"There are so many people out there who are unwell, or unhappy with the way they look and feel.

"We can start changing this by caring about how we think about ourselves, which is why I've included colourful and uplifting affirmations throughout."

Every print copy sold includes a free digital copy and $10 from every sale is donated to the reader's choice of four charities.
