Claimed sightings of UFOs over Rotorua have sparked international debate.
Two Rotorua women have posted videos of suspected UFO sightings on video-sharing website YouTube.
One told The Daily Post she had received messages from all over the world regarding the object in the video.
Andrea Colledge posted two videos of
sightings within the past two weeks on YouTube and has to date had about 200 hits.
Mrs Colledge said she initially thought the object might have been a comet.
"I Googled and Googled other sightings but haven't found anything similar."
She said she often saw planes at her Lynmore property and was confident the object in the video was not a plane.
"We sit and watch the planes quite a bit and I know that this was not a plane."
Mrs Colledge said she often saw a lot of strange objects in the sky but had only recently started capturing them on video to post online.
"I think it is naive to think we are the only beings in the universe so I definitely believe in aliens," she said.
"I think it is great being able to capture these things and put them online because you get a lot of feedback from other people who might know what it could be."
Mrs Colledge said she had received emails and messages from people all over the world regarding the videos.
"Quite a lot of people think it is a UFO; others say it could be a comet or something."
Another Rotorua woman whose YouTube username is Jesusfreak77700 posted a video on the website this week of a possible UFO. Mrs Colledge said she had been in touch with the woman, who lives in Ngongotaha.
"She thinks what she saw was an angel."
The video uploaded by Jesusfreak77700 has had more than 320 hits.
Mrs Colledge said she believed she had seen a lot of unidentified objects in the sky above Rotorua this year.
"It does seem to be more common at the moment."
Her comments come after Rotorua's Chris Heywood posted footage of a possible UFO on the video sharing website. He said the object was seen over Waikite Valley. Since it was uploaded the video received several thousand views.
Rotorua Astronomical Society vice-president Brian Hurren says the videos could be anything from an out-of-focus star to an unusual plasma ball.
