One person has pleaded guilty to driving dangerously after Rotorua police investigated illegal and antisocial behaviour by motorbike riders on roads.

One person has pleaded guilty to driving dangerously after Rotorua police investigated illegal and antisocial behaviour by motorbike riders on roads.

A trail bike rider has admitted to dangerous riding after being identified through CCTV, police say.

Rotorua road policing co-ordinator Senior Sergeant John Stapleford said police received reports of a man riding a trail bike dangerously through Rotorua suburbs.

“He was identified through CCTV and arrested in Fordlands on August 29.”

Stapleford said the 20-year-old had been granted bail after pleading guilty to driving in a dangerous manner.

He was due to reappear in the Rotorua District Court on October 31.

Stapleford said antisocial road users disrupted the peace of the community, caused damage to roads and were dangerous to all traffic.

“Police want to stop dangerous behaviour on and off streets.

“If you drive recklessly, you should expect police to take action to keep neighbourhoods and others on the road safe.”

Police encouraged anyone in the community who witnesses antisocial road user behaviour to report it immediately to 111.

Reports can be made after the fact through the 105 service.
