MP Todd McClay will host a delegation of diplomates representing ASEAN countries in the region tomorrow.
Ambassadors and high commissioners from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam will be conducting a tour of the Rotorua and Reporoa with Mr McClay.
"The Rotorua economy is thriving. Business and tourism are booming. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase what Rotorua has to offer to the rest of the world," Mr McClay said.
During the day, the diplomats will be welcomed to Te Puia in the morning, followed by a working visit to Red Stag Timber and tour of Fonterra's world-class production facility in Reporoa.
"This is an excellent opportunity to showcase Rotorua's iconic and vibrant businesses," said Mr McClay.
"I will also host them at the Rotary Charity Fundraiser lunch in the Energy Events Centre where a special gift from Indonesia will be auctioned to raise money for important local causes."
The visit is part of a programme Mr McClay put together by working with the tourism and business sector.
"Total ASEAN-New Zealand trade and investment exceeded $17 billion in the last year. There are a lot of opportunities for New Zealand to showcase investment and growth potential by working more closely together."
The visit follows on from a delegation of representatives from the Latin American embassies earlier this month. In October, Mr McClay also hosted a visit from the British High Commissioner to New Zealand. They will also explore opportunities for doing business.
"There is a lot of interest from the rest of the world in what Rotorua is doing, and Rotorua is hungry to build on its potential," said Mr McClay.
