Rotorua is shooting for a triple stroke of wins in the Waikato Bay regional premier senior interclub tennis competitions with men's and women's sides in action this weekend.

The Rotorua-Lynmore men's first team, defending champions for the past two years, will look to maintain their unbeaten run in this season's title challenge when they take on seventh-placed Whakatane away tomorrow.

Rotorua-Lynmore captain and number 1 Shaun Tamai said he was wary of his side's "traditionally tough" opponents - who they faced in last year's finals.

"They are very strong and always put in a good display," he said.

"Whakatane have lost a couple of key players - one has gone to America on a playing scholarship and another to Melbourne but we will treat them with respect.

"Each player has to focus on their own game in the singles and team up in the doubles. One result can't win us the match so we all need to pull our weight and aim for that overall win."

Tamai said his side, made up of James Wilce, Jesse Galvin-Dawson, Sean Martin and Campbell Brake, was full of quality.

"I'm very pleased with the start we have made and we are quietly confident ahead of this match," he said.

"We have quite a bit of pressure on us as defending champions but I have faith in the current squad and we have a top team."

Meanwhile the Rotorua-Lynmore men's second team, sitting sixth in the standings, face Cambridge Blue at home.

Rotorua women, like their male first team counterparts, look to keep their winning streak intact when they take to the court against Tauranga Lawn at home in their third clash of the season.

The side, captained by Leona Davis-Kaye, are two points behind table-toppers Mount Maunganui but have a game in hand.
