Bay of Plenty representative players will take coaching sessions for school-aged players.

Bay of Plenty representative players will take coaching sessions for school-aged players.

The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union Holiday Programme is returning these school holidays in Tauranga, Whakatane, Opotiki and Rotorua.

The programme gives rugby-mad youngsters the chance to experience expert coaching, team challenges and trainer-of-the-day prizes.

It is aimed at boys and girls aged from 6 to 12. While the intention
of the programme is to teach them fundamental rugby skills, the emphasis is on fun and enjoyment.

The Western Bay of Plenty holiday programme, sponsored by Sara Browne of Eves Realty, will take place at Blake Park, Mount Maunganui during the first week of the school holidays.

On Wednesday, April 18, two days of action will kick off for 6 to 12-year-olds. The Western Bay of Plenty programme will conclude with a masterclass on Friday, April 20, for ages 8 to 12.

On Monday, April 23, the Central Bay of Plenty holiday programme will kick off for the first time in Rotorua. Whakarewarewa Rugby Club will host the programme which is sponsored by Patchells.

On Tuesday, April 24, the Eastern Bay of Plenty holiday programme will kick off in Opotiki. The remaining two days of the holiday programme will be hosted at Whakatane's Rugby Park on Thursday, April 26, and Friday, April 27.

The boys and girls attending their respective holiday programmes will be treated to coaching from Bay of Plenty representative players.

Central Bay of Plenty Rugby junior development officer Kelly Haimona said: "It is great we can offer our holiday programme for the first time in Rotorua. The Rotorua community have got in behind it and we are sure that the kids will make the most of the opportunity to be a part of an action packed and fun programme come Monday, April 23."

The prices for the programmes are $30 per day in the Western Bay of Plenty, $20 per day in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and $35 for the masterclass.

Registering is as simple as filling in an online form at www.boprugby.co.nz/community-rugby/junior-rugby/holiday-programme/
