People are welcome to toe-tap and enjoy some swinging music with a performance by the Lindy Tops.

The Lindy Tops are an Auckland-based swing band originally formed in 2016, with the purpose of providing swing dancers with a quality dance band.

The name is a play on the term 'Lindy Hop' which was a popular form of swing dancing from the big band era.

The Rotorua Jazz Club is presenting the Lindy Tops on Sunday at the Arawa Lounge, Rotorua Racecourse.

The band performs from 6pm to 9pm. Doors open at 5.30pm, as does the cash bar.

Since forming, the Lindy Tops have performed at swing dance events and jazz gigs at various venues including Aotea Square, MOTAT, the Auckland Jazz and Blues Club, and the Hamilton Gardens, along with private weddings and functions.

The band features a talented line up of young musicians, all who play in various other jazz ensembles and bands around Auckland.

They have an extensive repertoire of classic jazz standards, bossa and latin from the 1920s through to the 1950s, and a swinging style that is sure to get toes tapping.

The members are Stephanie Harmsworth on vocals, Sam Swindells on guitar, Denholm Orr on bass and Loris Zigon on piano.

All are welcome and it is a $15 entry. Rotorua Jazz Club member entry costs $8.

People can become a member of the club for $25 single, $40 double. Members then pay $8 entry each for the monthly Jazz nights.
