Residents at a Rotorua rest home which has gone into receivership are being assured the facility is operating as normal while new owners are found.

Lara Lodge Limited in Pegasus Dr was put into receivership in the middle of last month.

Receiver Thomas Rodewald said the rest home was still operating as normal and the receivers met with residents and their families last weekend to explain the situation.

He said the facility had received a "top grade audit report" in July.

"It is operating to a high standard of residential care."

He said the 23 residents had been kept up to date with the situation and there was no impact on them.

About 18 full and part time staff were still working, he said.

Mr Rodewald said the receivers were in negotiations with parties interested in buying the business.

He said they had received a bit of interest and the priority was to find a buyer. Mr Rodewald said the receivers had the "complete backing" of the district health board.

Receivers had been appointed by the company's bankers, at the request of the company directors, he said.

"It is business as usual for residents and staff."

A spokesperson for Lara Lodge said she was unable to comment.
