A pre-planned search warrant on the Tauranga Direct Rd has been carried out by Rotorua police with back up from the Armed Offenders Squad.

A police media spokeswoman said the team had gathered at 3.10pm on Thursday and were carrying out the search between 5pm and 6pm.

She could not confirm whether anything was located but said there were no arrests.

"This is normal police businesses. They routinely ask for staff as back up and in this case that was the Armed Offenders Squad."
