The anniversary milestone is expected to draw in more than 9000 entrants to the marathon, as well as supporting family and friends.

Hand-in-hand with the Rotorua Marathon, the annual ASICS Sports, Health and Lifestyle Expo is in town this weekend giving locals the chance to stock up on a variety of products.

There will be national and local exhibitors showcasing their products as well as a food court to grab a bite to eat while browsing the goods on display.

This year marks a first for the expo as it includes food products, lifestyle merchandise, health and beauty and non-sporting clothing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of both the marathon and expo.

Alongside the new additions, the usual array of products and services will take pride of place to keep locals busy when not cheering on entrants in the marathon.

Carl Jackson, Athletics New Zealand commercial and marketing manager, said people should come along to pick up some great bargains, with many exhibitors from outside Rotorua but also plenty of Rotorua vendors involved.

"There will be a food court on site so why not come down for breakfast, lunch or dinner and cheer on your friends and family."
