The Rotorua-based BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to provide medical assistance to a unfolding serious medical event south of Rotorua.
A St John ambulance was initially despatched from Reporoa to the man's location in the Kaingaroa Forest around 3.30pm yesterday.
After the man's condition began to deteriorate they requested assistance
