It's time to drag out those old t-shirts from the bottom of your drawers and bring them back to life while raising money for a great cause.
Locals are encouraged to head down to the Children's Art House and renew an old t-shirt in preparation for Loud Shirt Day.
The Rotorua Museum and the Children's Art House have partnered up to hold a 'Decorate your t-shirt for Loud Shirt Day' event.
It is being held next Saturday, 10am to 2pm.
Loud Shirt Day is on Friday, September 28 and aims to help deaf kids learn to listen and talk like their hearing friends.
It is a way to commit serious fashion crimes and have a whole lot of fun at work, at school or in your social group.
Rotorua Museum events and engagement co-ordinator Tori Williams says there will be a range of art supplies available for people to create their own loud shirt.
However, people will need to bring along a t-shirt to decorate.
She says the gold coin entry for the event will be donated to the Loud Shirt Day charity, which helps support deaf and hearing-impaired children in New Zealand.
"This is the first time Rotorua Museum has been involved with this wonderful charity. It also provided an opportunity to work alongside the creative team at The Children's Art House.
"It will be a fun family event to raise awareness and funds for a good cause."
Money raised from Loud Shirt Day goes to The Hearing House and the Southern Cochlear Implant Programme.
The aim is for deaf children to focus on their abilities not their disability; both charities want deaf kids to be able to maximise their potential - so your donation helps deaf and hearing-impaired kids have a better future.
