DIY, discounts and dancing are not typical activities one would pair together but when locals come together next month, that's exactly what they'll be doing.

This year's Mitre 10 Mega Rotorua Ladies Night is being held on Wednesday October 17 from 6pm to 9pm at the store, with proceeds going to Rotorua Community Hospice.

Mitre 10 Mega Rotorua store general manager Warren Rehu says there will be 31 suppliers at the event, which is more than last year.

The suppliers will be doing games, giveaways and demonstrations.

It will also be a GST free night of everything in the retail store, along with raffles, a "wicked" auction and the cafe being open.

The event will also include encore performances of Harcourts Dancing with the Stars dance couples, and a performance from local children in The Next Generation.

There will be a barbecue going, and the first 500 tickets sold receives a goodie bag and the chance to win a $500 Mitre 10 Mega voucher.

Tickets cost $5 and are available instore.

Warren says the store is a big supporter of hospice, with a number of team members having experienced hospice through their own families.

"We are always excited about getting involved with anything to do with hospice and make an effort to be a part of anything they are involved in.

"Raising as many funds as possible for hospice is always the main goal and challenge.

"This is Mitre 10 Mega Rotorua's biggest event of the year, and it's always exciting to see the interaction of our customers with suppliers while supporting hospice."

He says it is an exciting and fun night which you do not want to miss.

Rotorua Community Hospice fundraising and marketing manager Nicola Smallwood says she went last year and had an absolute blast.

She says it is an opportunity for women to learn more about DIY, ask suppliers questions and mingle with other women doing DIY projects.

"We are incredibly blessed in the Rotorua community to have support like this and we simply couldn't function without it.

"Warren and his team really go above and beyond planning the event for months."

Nicola says she is excited to enter competitions, watch an encore performance of Harcourts Dancing with the Stars and is looking forward to the atmosphere from 500 women having a great night out.
