Crew positions at Rotorua's new Wendy's Old-Fashioned Hamburgers are already getting a lot of interest, although they haven't started advertising for the jobs yet.
Construction of the restaurant on the corner of Maisey Pl and Fairy Springs Rd began on February 28 and it is expected to open at the end
of July or early August, depending on the weather.
Job-seekers seem to be keen to secure jobs at the new restaurant with a high level of interest in the jobs.
Wendy's marketing manager, Fay Stretch, said about 40 people had already applied for the four management positions at the restaurant, which had been advertised on the job website Seek.
Ms Stretch said applications for the four positions were expected to close shortly.
She said they would not start advertising the 30 to 40 crew positions until about a month before the restaurant opened.
She said they had received about 100 inquiries about the crew jobs - mainly through their website - since construction began.
Ms Stretch said they were planning to hold an open day at a venue in Rotorua towards the end of June when people could turn up with their CVs for an interview for a crew position.
They would not need to apply beforehand.
She said it was difficult to say how many they expected to see at the open day.
However, she said a similar open day for the Christchurch restaurant that opened at the end of last year attracted about 200 applicants.
The level of interest shown so far in the jobs at Wendy's in Rotorua was slightly higher than when they opened the restaurant in Christchurch and about the same as for the restaurant they planned to open in Paraparaumu later this year.
A sign with more details about the open day was expected to be put up at the Rotorua site within the next two weeks.
