Owhata Club players Gina Owen and Paul Gooch have won the Bay of Plenty Indoor Bowls Centre's Mixed Pairs Championship and the Graham Gerrand Memorial Trophy.

The pair took home the win at the Whakatane Stadium last Saturday.

It was Owen's 10th Bay of Plenty title earning her second Gold Star while Gooch won his ninth title.

The pair defeated Gary Hunt and Marge Taare playing from Ohope Club 11-6 in the final over nine ends.

In the semifinals Owen beat the mother and son Lake Taupo combination of Matthew and Paula Farquhar 10-5 while Hunt defeated Wayne Hitchens and Karen Te Tamaki, Owhata Club 10-4.

Meanwhile on Sunday Lake Taupo's Robin Porter, who is in outstanding form, skipped his team of Krissy East, junior player Matthew Farquhar and his wife Jacque Porter to win the Bay of Plenty Indoor Bowls Centre's Mixed Fours title.

Robin and Jacque Porter and Farquhar also won the Bay of Plenty Championship Fours two weeks ago when they combined with Ciaran Blackbourn and Farquhar won his Gold Star.

This win brought Robin Porter's titles to 17, East's to 11, Farquhar's to six and Jacque Porter's to seven.

Robin Porter's fine form is reflected in him being the player of the tournament when Rotorua won the Geyserland Trophy recently.

In the final over nine ends they defeated Derek Owen, Gina Owen, Te Tamaki and Gooch, Owhata Club 12-3.

Porter's team now go forward to compete in the North Island Eastern Zone final of the New Zealand Mixed Fours at Whakatane on July 7. The winner of the zone goes forward to the national final at Auckland on September 15.

The Owen/Gooch combination compete in the North Island Eastern Zone final of the New Zealand Mixed Pairs at Whakatane on July 8. The winner of the zone goes forward to the national final at Auckland on September 16.
