Rotorua has been named among the 11 least romantic cities in the world.

As Valentine's Day arrives Rotorua has been named one of the 11 least romantic cities in the world by an online magazine.

But the tongue-in-cheek article from Paste magazine, which has nearly 100,000 Facebook followers and more than 3 million monthly visitors, is plugged as a travel guide for single people not wanting to be surrounded by happy, lovey-dovey couples.

Anyone who thinks Rotorua's not a hot-spot for romance has to be dreaming!

Of Rotorua it says: "While the hot springs and countryside are beautiful, the smell is not. Often referred to as "Sulfur City," it will be hard to set the mood here."

Other cities on the list include Atlantic City, Blackpool, Casablanca and Beijing.
