Brendon McCashin's 11-year-old daughter Jasmine entered his name into this month's Rotorua Home Show draw for a trip-for-two to Fiji.

When he and wife Shanelle were called by helloworld Rotorua on Thursday, they couldn't believe they had won the prize, valued at up to $5000, including four nights on Treasure Island.

"It was so rewarding. They were extremely excited, they thought I was joking," owner and manager Deborah Kay said.

Jasmine, the eldest of three children, was "really happy" when her parents told her the news on her way home from gymnastics that night.

Her parents were up late with the excitement.

"We couldn't sleep! We spent a lot of time on the net looking up what to do there. I kept waking up," Shanelle McCashin said.

"Hopefully we can afford to take the kids over too."

She said it was the "biggest thing" they had ever won.

Kay said supporting the community with prizes like the Fiji trip was encouraging for the team, and made them proud.

"They [the McCashins] are such humble winners, they deserve the trip, clearly. They are really grateful. The spirit with which they are receiving it is really lovely."

The McCashins hope to make the trip in the October school holidays.
