State Highway 30 at Lake Rotoiti has reopened after a serious crash.
The two-vehicle crash happened shortly before 11.40am and there are serious injuries, police said.
The road was closed for several hours with a long detour in place via SH33 and SH2.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said ina 4.20pm update the road was fully open in both directions.
The agency previously said the crash was beside the lake west of Tamateatutahi St, between Tikitere (SH33) and Kawerau Rd West (SH34).
Motorists were warned to allow time for a “long detour”.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said one ambulance and one primary response in medical emergencies responder went to the scene.
The spokesperson said one patient in a moderate condition was being transported to Rotorua Hospital but referred any other information requests to police.
